COVID-19: APOSTOLIC CHURCH PRAYS FOR A’IBOM, NIGERIA … Suspends major Church programmes for one week

In line with the directive by Akwa Ibom State Government for churches in the state to pray for divine intervention in the fight to stop the scourge of Corona Virus Pandemic (COVID-19), The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Uyo Field, has offered prayers to God for the state and country.

Leading the prayer on Sunday March 29, 2020 during the Itu Major Convention held at Obot Itu, the Uyo Field Superintendent of the church Pastor I. N. George, Ph.D declared healing upon the state and country.

Reading from 2 Chronicles 7:12-14, Pastor George admonished the saints that God is faithful in all his ways and is ever ready to restore His people whenever they come in repentance, and commended the Governor of the State, Deac. Udom Emmanuel on the bold religious steps he has taken towards finding a lasting solution to this global pandemic that is holding nations of the world hostage.

He admonished Apostolic faithful across the Field and the state at large to abide by all necessary precautionary measures to stay safe by providing sanitizers, hand washing equipment, infra ray thermometers and observing social distancing as well as continue to remain prayerful, with the hope that the God who answers prayer would soon raise a banner against the deadly virus.

Pastor George subsequently announced that in compliance with the state government directive on public gathering and lockdown policy, the church in Uyo Field has suspended all major programmes requiring large congregation including the traditional first day of the month prayer meetings, weddings and funerals meant to be conducted by the church, for one week, effective Monday March 30 through Saturday, April 4.

In his statement, “it is proper to obey constituted authority and as law abiding citizens, we are bound to do the needful, while believing God for divine intervention for the sake of His beloved.”
